Brandon Coleman

Policy Counsel

Brandon Coleman is policy counsel on CRL's State Policy Team. His work focuses on assisting advocates across the country in developing strategies to advance positive state legislation and to defeat attempts to weaken consumer protections. He works primarily in the areas of small-dollar lending, debt collection and debt buying. Brandon plays an integral role in the team's legislative research, bill analysis and drafting.

Prior to joining CRL, Brandon gained a wide variety of experience in consumer finance as a bankruptcy and financial counselor, a law clerk focusing primarily on Affordable Housing Law, and most recently as the legislative correspondent for Congressman G.K. Butterfield (NC-01), where he was the lead staffer for the Congressman's Financial Services portfolio.

Brandon is a graduate of the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and the Duke University School of Law. When he is not working, Brandon enjoys spending time with his two dogs, volunteering in the community, and cheering on his hometown Detroit Lions.
